According to this article, Thailand is suffering major from floods. The water raised so much in two months that 61 provinces were affected.  Although the streets are completely flooded, military trucks have been going down the streets handing out aid to all the people. People with boats have been transporting neighbors and their stuff to safe land or at least to get the aid they need.  Countries around the world have donated $2.07 million in aid to help all the people in the flood. The United States of America has sent over 26 helicopters to help with relief.

Although it is such a shame to see the country go under because of the rain and canal closing in, it is great to see people all over the world helping. We spend so much time looking at the awful things in the world that need help, but we never really look around and accept and acknowledge all the wonderful things.  It is unbelievable that the world was able to donate $2.07 million in aid to this country. It’s even greater to see America sending over the helicopters. I personally believe the best part of all this is that the people who own boats are using all their time and effort to help the neighbors survive. People are going out of the way to help everyone in such a tragic time period. Although the situation is lousy and should not be looked at positively at all, I really think it is so good to see people from all over the world working together to help everyone out.

  1. it truly is great that everyone is helping out, and aid is actually helping. However, why can this not happen for other places around the world. It is true that Thailand is economically more stable than places like sub-saharan Africa, but what are we doing in Thailand that we cant do in Africa? If it was so easy to raise 2.07 million dollars in that short of time, why has the relief in other countries not been this successful?

  2. This is a great story. You are right that we always look at the bad things in the world. But we should also see the progress we have made in this world. At the same time, while these people are being helped, there are always people in need and we should learn from our success and find better solutions to the problems in the world.
