According to this article 3,800 people have been killed in Syria. The government is failing to end the bloodshed and it is resulting in more and more deaths.  Terrorists are taking over the towns and invading people’s homes. They are going to people’s homes and are threatening them leaving them in fear to go out.  Just last Sunday, 19 people were killed.  All of the violence that has erupted over Syria was caused by the protests. The president is blaming the protests on people who are going against the president’s family. They have had rule for 40 years and now people are protesting. The protesting has become very violent, but the government still has yet to intervene.

It’s really sad to hear about stories like this because it relates to all the awful things going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Innocent people are getting their homes taken away and killed for no apparent reason.  Some people decided to protest and as a result 3,800 people were killed because of it. The worst part is that 3,800 is only the present number of casualties because the number of casualties will continue to rise if the government does not intervene. It is sad to see that the government has loss all control of their country and can do nothing to prevent citizen deaths and tortures. Other countries need to step in to help before Syria completely falls under and loses everything they have. Many innocent people are being and killed and they need help now.

  1. This is so sad and something does need to happen. However, it seems so typical for countries like this. Although those people are dying, the government has not done anything, so does that mean they do not care? This is just going to lead to further death, and eventual downfall of a country.

  2. Sometimes it is difficult for me to even realize that conflicts like this occur on in the world. Even with the news reporting in the United States, stories such as this are underreported. Also, it is easy to feel disconnected to the places like Syria where such violence is erupting. The more stories I read like this one, the more I appreciate the freedom of speech and the other rights that I often overlook yet am blessed to have. If only Syria and other countries could have a similar taste of freedom.
